Antiques Booth, Well Done!

I think I mentioned that Keith, whose house I showed you last Friday, was redoing a booth, so I thought I would share it with you.

Keith is really good at cramming in goodies, which is a necessity to survive in the antique mall business, but somehow he manages to make it look good too, something not all dealers have mastered.

He always finds amazing things.

Above you see the fun cupboard he bought from another dealer ... it was nothing special when he bought it, but white paint, distressing and neutral scrap book papers added inside, make it the perfect show piece.

The colored pastel 50's pots, with attached saucers, is one of those things that Keith and I both love!!  I have a collection of these in white in my garden house.
I hope you enjoyed your tour of Keith's new booth ... now I am off to set up m booth for flea.o.logy tomorrow!!  Our last flea market of the season and we have more than 40 dealers, it should be fun, I will share pics of it next week.

Upcycled Clown Stand - Trash to Treasure!

Its been a crazy week, but then the week before one of our flea.o.logy flea markets is always full of action. This week, besides painting lots of goodies for flea.o.logy, I have also been working on this guy.  We decided we wanted more color and pop in our flea.o.logy designs, and thought that some fun vintage circus would suit us just fine.  Besides, for some reason, people always think of a flea circus when they hear flea market ... so we decided to run with the circus connection.

My job was to make a mascot to stand by the entrance gate to flea.o.logy.  He's done, and I thought you might get some giggles just looking at him.

He started our as an Operation Brain Surgery game, which I paired with an old floor lamp.
Here he stands by the gate, with our flea.o.logy sign on top of the arch.
The floor lamp base is perfect, because its super heavy, and I will be able to hang things on our mascot!

Painting the stand was a lot of fun too ...
I even used some old game pieces, checkers and scrabble, to spell out what its all about!!

If you are local, come on down to Payson (218 N. Main, from 8 to 4 on August 30th) on Saturday, it should be a lot of fun, just like always!

Pakastani Quilts that will Amaze You!

Mr. P and I get together with our friends Terry and Steve a couple of times a month, usually for a movie and/or dinner.  Sometimes we share dinner at one of our homes, or have movie torture at their home.  You see. they have high brow ideas about movies, and like the art variety.  We are mere initiates, but are happy to go along, and usually enjoy the off beat movies they like

This past weekend, however, we wanted to do something different, and went to the museum of art at our local college, BYU.
This exhibit included quilts from the middle east.  The quilts are either pieced and/or appliqued tops with a solid back, and are heavily quilted.

Some designs, like this quilt, borrow the Hawaiian method of applique, as well as traditional American patterns, like these squares that are variations on a nine patch.

They are all made up of bold colors and strong graphic designs.

This one is called the thousand triangles.

The quilts in the exhibit are from a hundred years old, to some that were made in the last five years.  This two toned beauty is a recently made quilt.  It has stripes that are made by colored stitching.

This exhibit shows how the beautiful quilts are used, and the exhibit tells that most of these beds are used outside ... looks like a bit of heaven.
This quilt is unusual because it has print fabrics included in its construction.

Here my husband studies one of the quilts in this panoramic view of the display.  The quilts were lovely, and unexpected, and if you decide to go and see the exhibit, be sure to check out the movie costume exhibit upstairs.  The costumes are exquisite and the only thing lacking was the fact they didn't allow pictures.

Well, you know how I am about pictures, by now, right?

Exquisite Decor and Tour

Its been years since I've been to Keith's house ... and what a delight it was to visit.  The last time, it was actually in another house, but as always, his decorating is exquisite.   I mentioned this visit when I showed you one of his booths at Treasures Antiques, where he is a dealer with me, last week.  This is his living room, which I will share today, along with a few pictures in his hall.

This is his charming art wall, I love how varied the artwork is, and yet how nice they all look in this gathering.

To the right is one of a pair of very hip sheep, who somehow wandered into his living space.  So unexpected, and so fun!

His table scapes are so fun.

Above is the other sheep, in front of a cabinet of lovely figurines.

Then into the hall for more art work, and charming design.

The painting above was a commission he had done, after he saw a piece of art he loved on the wall of a room in a magazine.

Across the hall from it are these Maxwell Parrish prints ...

This lovely old clock was one he found at an estate sale, one that a family member had intended to keep, until Keith made them an offer they couldn't refuse ..

As breathtaking as the living room and hall are, there is more to share.  I will include his family room/kitchen area one day next week, along with a few shots from a bathroom and bedrooms!

And here is he is.  I have always been amazed at the man's talent, since the day I met him at the antique mall some 14 years ago.  If you want to see the fine items he has for sale, just come into Treasures in Springville and ask to see the booth for dealer 17, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for your willingness to share your treasures, Keith, it was a lovely visit.
