Ladies of Walden Pond Book Club Fun!

I have belonged to this wonderful book club for some 17 years!   That means that on the fourth Thursday of each month, friends have gathered to share opinions over 200 times!!

Carol hosted our book club this month, and as you can see, she did a fabulous job.

We had read Sarah M. Eden's 'Longing for Home', in which an old violin plays an important part.  (You can find Sarah's blog here)  Carol got out her Grandfather's violin and shared stories about her family history!

Carols rustic log cabin home was the perfect setting to discuss a book that was set in pioneers times in Wyoming...

... and since the main character  in the book chose to sell  homemade bread as a way to raise money, Carol made bread for our treat!  We have very creative women in this group, and we are often treated to food that was a part of the plot of the book.  What a wonderful evening was spent with old friends discussing a book that nearly everyone LOVED!   Plans were made for all to read the sequel, books were loaned hugs were given, and goodbye said .,.

Gone Junking! at the Acorn Antique Show

Hello junking friends!  I just wanted to show you some of the awesome sites I saw last weekend at the Acorn Antique Show in Ogden last week.  This dealer always does an awesome job,  and she always has goodies I want ... how ever, I have never bought from her because her prices are out of my range.  :-(
Isn't this industrial cake stand amazing?

My friend Cathie Cox, the proprietor of Fleattitude, had a few  wonderful pieces of assemblage art displayed in her booth at the show.  They were all by her friend Renee Hull.

I thought they were all wonderful!!
I have bought from this dealer several times .... she always has goodies I like ... however, these charming tea things, and the wonderful white pitchers below, both of which I collect, happened to be out of range this time.

This booth belongs to long time dealers and friends the Arrends from Arizona ... they have some of the most amazing lighting you have ever seen.  Check out their amazing selection  at the Acorn Show on May 9th ... but be sure to hit flea.o.logy first in Payson, since they are the same day.  I guess I'll have to miss that one.

Of course my cute friend Wendy came along with me to sneak in this quickie junking trip.  Junking with friends, just makes every thing more fun! Thanks Wendy!

The House at Pooh Corner

This is Sherri, Sherri is a southern girl, transplanted to Utah so she could be my friend ... well, there were other reasons too, I guess, just happy she ended up here.

A few weeks ago I attended the first quilting bee and tea for this quilt, as Sherri started quilting it, a top she had started as a girl, made with pieces of prom dresses, her mother's double knit pant suit, baby dresses  and a favorite baby doll  top she wore then. She did the line drawings of the Pooh characters herself, then embroidered them with whatever she had on hand ...

Forward 45 years ... and her sister-in-law Margaret, a bonafide quilter encouraged her to finish it, and thus it began.  In this picture, taken at the fourth quilting, you can tell its been rolled a couple of times ...
This is the banner I brought to her the first time I came to quilt, I also thought you might enjoy some pictures of the rest of her fun house.

This is the Winnie the Pooh guest room where the quilt will finally rest ... the window seat is stuffed with comfy pillows ... I can imagine Christopher Robin snuggling in with a book and his favorite bear!

The book case above is filled with Pooh related books and memorabilia ... the old Pooh on the top of the case was Sherri's first.  It was bought as a gift when she was in Junior High, it was thus she was  converted to all things Pooh!  I love Pooh state of being overtly loved for many, many years.

To the left is a night stand, one of two that Sherri made from a Petticoat Dresser.   We've all seen them, with their shelves between the twin sets of drawers, and a tall mirror above the shelves, I had just never heard them called 'petticoat dressers' before, she said the cut back shelves allowed the young miss to stand close to the mirror, even in a very full skirt (think 50's circle skirts with all those stiff petticoats)  I love the name!!
In another room she showed us this pine board floor.  Just pine 1 by 8s, screwed to the sub floor, with the screws counter sunk to allow for sanding.  It was laid 10 years ago.  At the same time she was having tongue and groove flooring laid in her own bedroom.  The workman laying that floor warned her off doing the plank floor, saying it would warp.  The funny thing is that the tongue and groove floor boards warped and bowed ... while the pine planks are as flat as the day they were laid.

Probably my favorite part of  Sherri's charming house, with so much to love, is her secret passage way ... above one sees matching arched book cases, and never guesses that the one on the left opens to a back hall, directly across from the master bedroom.
This is the back of the secret passage way door.  How cool is this!!
... and having snuck out through the secret passage, one is admitted to the master bedroom ... and this charming scene.  Thanks for sharing your amazing house Sherri!  What a fun tramp that was for us all!
P.S., just wanted to share this shaker style dresser that was made from wood pallets ... no kidding ... the ever talented Sherri, also has an amazing wood working daughter!!

Sweet Pink Nesting Birds Craft

... and its finally time to wish you a Happy Valentines Day tomorrow ... I hope you have fun plans, and that you are treating yourself to some love!  (Easy to do, just take the time to do whatever moves you!)

I love crafting, of course, and if I wish to indulge myself ... that is just what I do.

I thought I'd share the cute craft that we all got to do at Jenn's Cookie Exchange a couple of weeks ago.

This overtly pink goody is my version of the craft, but I thought I would show you the ones others did as well.

Above is the table Jenn prepared for her guests, full of all things crafty!

This is what one guest did with the goodies she gathered.

Still more examples ...
We went to work in Jenn's work space, a drafting table that accommodated 5 or 6 of us at a time, with glue guns for all.
More fun versions of pink bird love!
It was a great craft, and it was so fun to visit while crafting!!  Hope you got to get a little crafty this Valentines season, cause its almost time to jump into spring crafting!!

3 Dotters Vintage Sale Does it Again!!

I posted this picture and others in my last post about my booth at the 3 Dotters Vintage Sale last Saturday, but thought you might like to see some of the highlights of other booth spaces at the sale ...

Above is a picture of Jenn's (the proprietor) booth, to the right is the chalk board art that welcomes one to the show ... again, as I posted in my blog post about Jenn's Cookie Exchange last week, the artist is Amanda Elton, and this is her Etsy Shop  She also does custom work.

More of Jenn's vintage goodies.

I found this treasure in Jennine's booth, she's another favorite Flea.o.logy dealer.

Loved these great signs and displays, but didn't get to the meet the talented dealer who made them.

But definitely a woman after my own heart.

These great lamps were in Sherri and Carla's booth.

.... and upstairs I met an Instagram friend. Karen .... you can find her Etsy Shop Here.

Ranae and Mike are responsible for this awesome chest of drawers!

... which brings us back to my booth ... this kind of made me giggle when I noticed it, about 2 on Saturday.  The yellow sign says "you are my sunshine", the sign below it continues the lyrics, after skipping a line, with You make me happy when skies are gray.  I promise, not on purpose.  How funny is that.

And here are a few dealer friends ... Cathie of Fleattitude, with  Kristal of Love Street Salvage that is opening a store in Salt Lake next month with lots of great vintage clothing!!
Here are Ranae and Mike, great flea.o.logy dealers,  as lovely to have as neighbors at this sale too!

Of course Jacqueline is  always a lot of fun!  She was my next door dealer ...
.... and having my great friend, and former flea.o.logy dealer Wendy come by really made my day!!
... and just to throw in some youth and beauty, here is Maren with her friend Kelcee, a long time Flea.o.logy dealer  .... Kelcee did Flea.o.logy with her Mom when she was a teenager.  Now she is a young mom herself, with two adorable children .... she and Maren brought flowers to this sale so that people could make their own bouquets.  I think they plan to come and do flowers at flea.o.logy too, the day before Mother's day!!

Thanks for coming along, I hope you enjoyed seeing the displays of some really talented people.
